Keledai dan Garam Muatannya

Seorang pedagang, menuntun keledainya untuk melewati sebuah sungai yang dangkal. Selama ini mereka telah melalui sungai tersebut tanpa pernah mengalami satu pun kecelakaan, tetapi kali ini, keledainya tergelincir dan jatuh ketika mereka berada tepat di tengah-tengah sungai tersebut. Ketika pedagang tersebut akhirnya berhasil membawa keledainya beserta muatannya ke pinggir sungai dengan selamat, kebanyakan dari garam yang dimuat oleh keledai telah meleleh dan larut ke dalam air sungai. Gembira karena merasakan muatannya telah berkurang sehingga beban yang dibawa menjadi lebih ringan, sang Keledai merasa sangat gembira ketika mereka melanjutkan perjalanan mereka.

Pada hari berikutnya, sang Pedagang kembali membawa muatan garam. Sang Keledai yang mengingat pengalamannya kemarin saat tergelincir di tengah sungai itu, dengan sengaja membiarkan dirinya tergelincir jatuh ke dalam air, dan akhirnya dia bisa mengurangi bebannya kembali dengan cara itu.

Pedagang yang merasa marah, kemudian membawa keledainya tersebut kembali ke pasar, dimana keledai tersebut di muati dengan keranjang-keranjang yang sangat besar dan berisikan spons. Ketika mereka kembali tiba di tengah sungai, sang keledai kembali dengan sengaja menjatuhkan diri, tetapi pada saat pedagang tersebut membawanya ke pinggir sungai, sang keledai menjadi sangat tidak nyaman karena harus dengan terpaksa menyeret dirinya pulang kerumah dengan beban yang sepuluh kali lipat lebih berat dari sebelumnya akibat spons yang dimuatnya menyerap air sungai.

Cara yang sama tidak cocok digunakan untuk segala situasi.

Tujuh Burung Gagak

Dahulu, ada seorang laki-laki yang memiliki tujuh orang anak laki-laki, dan laki-laki tersebut belum memiliki anak perempuan yang lama diidam-idamkannya. Seriiring dengan berjalannya waktu, istrinya akhirnya melahirkan seorang anak perempuan. Laki-laki tersebut sangat gembira, tetapi anak perempuan yang baru lahir itu sangat kecil dan sering sakit-sakitan. Seorang tabib memberitahu laki-laki tersebut agar mengambil air yang ada pada suatu sumur dan memandikan anak perempuannya yang sakit-sakitan dengan air dari sumur itu agar anak tersebut memperoleh berkah dan kesehatan yang baik. Sang ayah lalu menyuruh salah seorang anak laki-lakinya untuk mengambil air dari sumur tersebut. Enam orang anak laki-laki lainnya ingin ikut untuk mengambil air dan masing-masing anak laki-laki itu sangat ingin untuk mendapatkan air tersebut terlebih dahulu karena rasa sayangnya terhadap adik perempuan satu-satunya. Ketika mereka tiba di sumur dan semua berusaha untuk mengisi kendi yang diberikan kepada mereka, kendi tersebut jatuh ke dalam sumur. Ketujuh anak laki-laki tersebut hanya terdiam dan tidak tahu harus melakukan apa untuk mengambil kendi yang jatuh, dan tak satupun dari mereka berani untuk pulang kerumahnya.

Ayahnya yang menunggu di rumah akhirnya hilang kesabarannya dan berkata, "Mereka pasti lupa karena bermain-main, anak nakal!" Karena takut anak perempuannya bertambah sakit, dia lalu berteriak marah, "Saya berharap anak laki-lakiku semua berubah menjadi burung gagak." Saat kata itu keluar dari mulutnya, dia mendengar kepakan sayap yang terbang di udara, sang Ayah lalu keluar dan melihat tujuh ekor burung gagak hitam terbang menjauh. Sang Ayah menjadi sangat menyesal karena mengeluarkan kata-kata kutukan dan tidak tahu bagaimana membatalkan kutukan itu. Tetapi walaupun kehilangan tujuh orang anak laki-lakinya, sang Ayah dan Ibu masih mendapatkan penghiburan karena kesehatan anak perempuannya berangsur-angsur membaik dan akhirnya anak perempuan tersebut tumbuh menjadi gadis yang cantik.

Gadis itu tidak pernah mengetahui bahwa dia mempunyai tujuh orang kakak laki-laki karena orangtuanya tidak pernah memberitahu dia, sampai suatu hari secara tidak sengaja gadis tersebut mendengar percakapan beberapa orang, "Gadis tersebut memang sangat cantik, tetapi gadis tersebut harus disalahkan karena mengakibatkan nasib buruk pada ketujuh saudaranya." Gadis tersebut menjadi sangat sedih dan bertanya kepada orangtuanya tentang ketujuh saudaranya. Akhirnya orangtuanya menceritakan semua kejadian yang menimpa ketujuh saudara gadis itu. Sang Gadis menjadi sangat sedih dan bertekad untuk mencari ketujuh saudaranya secara diam-diam. Dia tidak membawa apapun kecuali sebuah cincin kecil milik orangtuanya, sebuah roti untuk menahan lapar dan sedikit air untuk menahan haus.

Gadis tersebut berjalan terus, terus sampai ke ujung dunia. Dia menemui matahari, tetapi matahari terlalu panas, lalu dia kemudian menemui bulan, tetapi bulan terlalu dingin, lalu dia menemui bintang-bintang yang ramah kepadanya. Saat bintang fajar muncul, bintang tersebut memberikan dia sebuah tulang ayam dan berkata, "Kamu harus menggunakan tulang ini sebagai kunci untuk membuka gunung yang terbuat dari gelas, disana kamu akan dapat menemukan saudara-saudaramu.

Gadis tersebut kemudian mengambil tulang tersebut, menyimpannya dengan hati-hati di pakaiannya dan pergi ke arah gunung yang di tunjuk oleh bintang fajar. Ketika dia telah tiba di gunung tersebut, dia baru sadar bahwa tulang untuk membuka kunci gerbang gunung telah hilang. Karena dia berharap untuk menolong ketujuh saudaranya, maka sang Gadis lalu mengambil sebilah pisau, memotong jari kelinkingnya dan meletakkannya di depan pintu gerbang. Pintu tersebut kemudian terbuka dan sang Gadis dapat masuk kedalam, dimana seorang kerdil menemuinya dan bertanya kepadanya, "Anakku, apa yang kamu cari?" "Saya mencari tujuh saudaraku, tujuh burung gagak," balas sang Gadis. Orang kerdil tersebut lalu berkata, "Tuanku belum pulang ke rumah, jika kamu ingin menemuinya, silahkan masuk dan kamu boleh menunggunya di sini." Lalu orang kerdil tersebut menyiapkan makan siang pada tujuh piring kecil untuk ketujuh saudara laki-laki sang Gadis yang telah menjadi burung gagak. Karena lapar, sang Gadis mengambil dan memakan sedikit makanan yang ada pada tiap-tiap piring dan minum sedikit dari tiap-tiap gelas kecil yang ada. Tetapi pada gelas yang terakhir, dia menjatuhkan cincin milik orangtuanya yang dibawa bersamanya.

Tiba-tiba dia mendengar kepakan sayap burung di udara, dan saat itu orang kerdil itu berkata, "Sekarang tuanku sudah datang." Saat ketujuh burung gagak akan mulai makan, mereka menyadari bahwa seseorang telah memakan sedikit makanan dari piring mereka. "Siapa yang telah memakan makananku, dan meminum minumanku?" kata salah satunya. Saat burung gagak yang terakhir minum dari gelasnya, sebuah cincin masuk ke mulutnya dan ketika burung tersebut memperhatikan cincin tersebut, burung gagak tersebut berkata, "Diberkatilah kita, saudara perempuan kita yang tersayang mungkin ada disini, inilah saatnya kita bisa terbebas dari kutukan." Sang Gadis yang berdiri di belakang pintu mendengar perkataan mereka, akhirnya maju kedepan dan saat itu pula, ketujuh burung gagak berubah kembali menjadi manusia. Mereka akhirnya berpelukan dan pulang bersama ke rumah mereka dengan bahagia.

Kerbau dan Kambing

Seekor kerbau jantan berhasil lolos dari serangan seekor singa dengan cara memasuki sebuah gua dimana gua tersebut sering digunakan oleh kumpulan kambing sebagai tempat berteduh dan menginap saat malam tiba ataupun saat cuaca sedang memburuk. Saat itu hanya satu kambing jantan yang ada di dalam gua tersebut. Saat kerbau masuk kedalam gua, kambing jantan itu menundukkan kepalanya, berlari untuk menabrak kerbau tersebut dengan tanduknya agar kerbau jantan itu keluar dari gua dan dimangsa oleh sang Singa. Kerbau itu hanya tinggal diam melihat tingkah laku sang Kambing. Sedang diluar sana, sang Singa berkeliaran di muka gua mencari mangsanya.

Lalu sang kerbau berkata kepada sang kambing, "Jangan berpikir bahwa saya akan menyerah dan diam saja melihat tingkah lakumu yang pengecut karena saya merasa takut kepadamu. Saat singa itu pergi, saya akan memberi kamu pelajaran yang tidak akan pernah kamu lupakan."

Sangatlah jahat, mengambil keuntungan dari kemalangan orang lain.

Semut dan Belalang

Pada siang hari di akhir musim gugur, satu keluarga semut yang telah bekerja keras sepanjang musim panas untuk mengumpulkan makanan, mengeringkan butiran-butiran gandum yang telah mereka kumpulkan selama musim panas. Saat itu seekor belalang yang kelaparan, dengan sebuah biola di tangannya datang dan memohon dengan sangat agar keluarga semut itu memberikan sedikit makan untuk dirinya.

"Apa!" teriak sang Semut dengan terkejut, "tidakkah kamu telah mengumpulkan dan menyiapkan makanan untuk musim dingin yang akan datang ini? Selama ini apa saja yang kamu lakukan sepanjang musim panas?"

"Saya tidak mempunyai waktu untuk mengumpulkan makanan," keluh sang Belalang; "Saya sangat sibuk membuat lagu, dan sebelum saya sadari, musim panas pun telah berlalu."

Semut tersebut kemudian mengangkat bahunya karena merasa gusar.

"Membuat lagu katamu ya?" kata sang Semut, "Baiklah, sekarang setelah lagu tersebut telah kamu selesaikan pada musim panas, sekarang saatnya kamu menari!" Kemudian semut-semut tersebut membalikkan badan dan melanjutkan pekerjaan mereka tanpa memperdulikan sang Belalang lagi.

Ada saatnya untuk bekerja dan ada saatnya untuk bermain.

The fox and the vineyard

A hungry fox went out. He walked along the country roads and came to a vineyard. Of course he wanted to get inside, but he could not do so because there was a high wall all round the place. He tried to climb over the wall, but it was too high.

He walked round the wall and at one part saw a hole "ah" he thought "Now I can get inside" He began to push himself through the hole, but he could not get through because his body was too fat.

"There is only one thing for me to do" he said at last " I must become thinner" For whole day he did not eat anything and then he tried to get through the hole, but he was still too fat. He ate nothing for another day and still he did not become thin enough. At the end of the third day he found that he could get through the hole.

At last he was inside the vineyard and could eat the fruit. The grapes were sweet and he ate as many as he could. He ate and he ate till he could eat no more. Then he went back to the hole and tried to get through. But oh no! he could not do so, He was now too fat.

Poor fox! there was only thing for him to do now. He had to stay in the vineyard with the fine fruit all around him and be hungry for three whole days. At the end of that time he become thin enough to get through the hole.

When finally he was walking away from the vineyard he looked back and said " Oh vineyard! vineyard! How fine you are and how sweet is your fruit! but of what use are you? "I went in hungry and I came out hungry"

Sour Grapes

A hungry fox was once walking by a vineyard. He looked up and saw some bunches of grapes. The grapes were large and black. "Those grapes are nice" said the fox to himself "I must eat some". He jumped up to get the grapes but he could not reach them, they were too hight.

He tried again and again and yet again. But each time he fell back without the grapes. At last the fox turned and walked away. As he was going he said to himself "well, what does it matter? The grapes are sour!"

Now, were the grapes sour! We do not know, and the fox did not know. Then why did the fox say that they were sour? He said so because he could not get them.

Many people are like this fox. And so, if we hear some one say that a thing good, when he can not get it. We say it is a matter of "Sour Grapes"

The foolish dog

A dog once took a large piece of meat from a butcher's shop. The butcher did not give it to him, he took it him self, he stole it. The bad dog ran away with the meat between his teeth, he ran quickly, because he did not want the butcher to catch him and take the meat away from him.

On his way he came to a river. He went near it and looked into the water. Of course he saw him self there with the piece of meat in his mouth. But he did not know and say "that is myself in the water" Oh, no! he said to himself "That is another dog with a nice piece of meat". I want that meat and I will have it too.

He opened his mouth to take the other piece of meat. Of course, when he did so the piece of meat fell into the river, and so instead of two pieces, the foolish dog got none.

The Twelve Dancing Princesses

There was a king who had twelve beautiful daughters. They slept in twelve beds all in one room and when they went to bed, the doors were shut and locked up. However, every morning their shoes were found to be quite worn through as if they had been danced in all night. Nobody could find out how it happened, or where the princesses had been.
So the king made it known to all the land that if any person could discover the secret and find out where it was that the princesses danced in the night, he would have the one he liked best to take as his wife, and would be king after his death. But whoever tried and did not succeed, after three days and nights, they would be put to death.
A king's son soon came. He was well entertained, and in the evening was taken to the chamber next to the one where the princesses lay in their twelve beds. There he was to sit and watch where they went to dance; and, in order that nothing could happen without him hearing it, the door of his chamber was left open. But the king's son soon fell asleep; and when he awoke in the morning he found that the princesses had all been dancing, for the soles of their shoes were full of holes.
The same thing happened the second and third night and so the king ordered his head to be cut off.
After him came several others; but they all had the same luck, and all lost their lives in the same way.
Now it happened that an old soldier, who had been wounded in battle and could fight no longer, passed through the country where this king reigned, and as he was travelling through a wood, he met an old woman, who asked him where he was going.
'I hardly know where I am going, or what I had better do,' said the soldier; 'but I think I would like to find out where it is that the princesses dance, and then in time I might be a king.'
'Well,' said the old woman, 'that is not a very hard task: only take care not to drink any of the wine which one of the princesses will bring to you in the evening; and as soon as she leaves you pretend to be fast asleep.'

Then she gave him a cloak, and said, 'As soon as you put that on you will become invisible, and you will then be able to follow the princesses wherever they go.' When the soldier heard all this good advice, he was determined to try his luck, so he went to the king, and said he was willing to undertake the task.
He was as well received as the others had been, and the king ordered fine royal robes to be given him; and when the evening came he was led to the outer chamber.
Just as he was going to lie down, the eldest of the princesses brought him a cup of wine; but the soldier threw it all away secretly, taking care not to drink a drop. Then he laid himself down on his bed, and in a little while began to snore very loudly as if he was fast asleep.
When the twelve princesses heard this they laughed heartily; and the eldest said, 'This fellow too might have done a wiser thing than lose his life in this way!' Then they rose and opened their drawers and boxes, and took out all their fine clothes, and dressed themselves at the mirror, and skipped about as if they were eager to begin dancing.
But the youngest said, 'I don't know why it is, but while you are so happy I feel very uneasy; I am sure some mischance will befall us.'
'You simpleton,' said the eldest, 'you are always afraid; have you forgotten how many kings' sons have already watched in vain? And as for this soldier, even if I had not given him his sleeping draught, he would have slept soundly enough.'
When they were all ready, they went and looked at the soldier; but he snored on, and did not stir hand or foot: so they thought they were quite safe.
Then the eldest went up to her own bed and clapped her hands, and the bed sank into the floor and a trap-door flew open. The soldier saw them going down through the trap-door one after another, the eldest leading the way; and thinking he had no time to lose, he jumped up, put on the cloak which the old woman had given him, and followed them.
However, in the middle of the stairs he trod on the gown of the youngest princess, and she cried out to her sisters, 'All is not right; someone took hold of my gown.'

'You silly creature!' said the eldest, 'it is nothing but a nail in the wall.'
Down they all went, and at the bottom they found themselves in a most delightful grove of trees; and the leaves were all of silver, and glittered and sparkled beautifully. The soldier wished to take away some token of the place; so he broke off a little branch, and there came a loud noise from the tree. Then the youngest daughter said again, 'I am sure all is not right -- did not you hear that noise? That never happened before.'
But the eldest said, 'It is only our princes, who are shouting for joy at our approach.'
They came to another grove of trees, where all the leaves were of gold; and afterwards to a third, where the leaves were all glittering diamonds. And the soldier broke a branch from each; and every time there was a loud noise, which made the youngest sister tremble with fear. But the eldest still said it was only the princes, who were crying for joy.
They went on till they came to a great lake; and at the side of the lake there lay twelve little boats with twelve handsome princes in them, who seemed to be waiting there for the princesses.
One of the princesses went into each boat, and the soldier stepped into the same boat as the youngest. As they were rowing over the lake, the prince who was in the boat with the youngest princess and the soldier said, 'I do not know why it is, but though I am rowing with all my might we do not get on so fast as usual, and I am quite tired: the boat seems very heavy today.'
'It is only the heat of the weather,' said the princess, 'I am very warm, too.'
On the other side of the lake stood a fine, illuminated castle from which came the merry music of horns and trumpets. There they all landed, and went into the castle, and each prince danced with his princess; and the soldier, who was still invisible, danced with them too. When any of the princesses had a cup of wine set by her, he drank it all up, so that when she put the cup to her mouth it was empty. At this, too, the youngest sister was terribly frightened, but the eldest always silenced her.

They danced on till three o'clock in the morning, and then all their shoes were worn out, so that they were obliged to leave. The princes rowed them back again over the lake (but this time the soldier placed himself in the boat with the eldest princess); and on the opposite shore they took leave of each other, the princesses promising to come again the next night.
When they came to the stairs, the soldier ran on before the princesses, and laid himself down. And as the twelve, tired sisters slowly came up, they heard him snoring in his bed and they said, 'Now all is quite safe'. Then they undressed themselves, put away their fine clothes, pulled off their shoes, and went to bed.
In the morning the soldier said nothing about what had happened, but determined to see more of this strange adventure, and went again on the second and third nights. Everything happened just as before: the princesses danced till their shoes were worn to pieces, and then returned home. On the third night the soldier carried away one of the golden cups as a token of where he had been.
As soon as the time came when he was to declare the secret, he was taken before the king with the three branches and the golden cup; and the twelve princesses stood listening behind the door to hear what he would say.
The king asked him. 'Where do my twelve daughters dance at night?'
The soldier answered, 'With twelve princes in a castle underground.' And then he told the king all that had happened, and showed him the three branches and the golden cup which he had brought with him.
The king called for the princesses, and asked them whether what the soldier said was true and when they saw that they were discovered, and that it was of no use to deny what had happened, they confessed it all.
So the king asked the soldier which of the princesses he would choose for his wife; and he answered, 'I am not very young, so I will have the eldest.' -- and they were married that very day, and the soldier was chosen to be the king's heir.

The Frog Prince

One fine evening a young princess put on her bonnet and clogs, and went out to take a walk by herself in a wood; and when she came to a cool spring of water with a rose in the middle of it, she sat herself down to rest a while. Now she had a golden ball in her hand, which was her favourite plaything; and she was always tossing it up into the air, and catching it again as it fell.
After a time she threw it up so high that she missed catching it as it fell; and the ball bounded away, and rolled along on the ground, until at last it fell down into the spring. The princess looked into the spring after her ball, but it was very deep, so deep that she could not see the bottom of it. She began to cry, and said, 'Alas! if I could only get my ball again, I would give all my fine clothes and jewels, and everything that I have in the world.'
Whilst she was speaking, a frog put its head out of the water, and said, 'Princess, why do you weep so bitterly?'
'Alas!' said she, 'what can you do for me, you nasty frog? My golden ball has fallen into the spring.'
The frog said, 'I do not want your pearls, and jewels, and fine clothes; but if you will love me, and let me live with you and eat from off your golden plate, and sleep on your bed, I will bring you your ball again.'
'What nonsense,' thought the princess, 'this silly frog is talking! He can never even get out of the spring to visit me, though he may be able to get my ball for me, and therefore I will tell him he shall have what he asks.'
So she said to the frog, 'Well, if you will bring me my ball, I will do all you ask.'
Then the frog put his head down, and dived deep under the water; and after a little while he came up again, with the ball in his mouth, and threw it on the edge of the spring.
As soon as the young princess saw her ball, she ran to pick it up; and she was so overjoyed to have it in her hand again, that she never thought of the frog, but ran home with it as fast as she could

The frog called after her, 'Stay, princess, and take me with you as you said,'
But she did not stop to hear a word.
The next day, just as the princess had sat down to dinner, she heard a strange noise - tap, tap - plash, plash - as if something was coming up the marble staircase, and soon afterwards there was a gentle knock at the door, and a little voice cried out and said:

'Open the door, my princess dear,
Open the door to thy true love here!
And mind the words that thou and I said
By the fountain cool, in the greenwood shade.'

Then the princess ran to the door and opened it, and there she saw the frog, whom she had quite forgotten. At this sight she was sadly frightened, and shutting the door as fast as she could came back to her seat.
The king, her father, seeing that something had frightened her, asked her what was the matter.
'There is a nasty frog,' said she, 'at the door, that lifted my ball for me out of the spring this morning. I told him that he should live with me here, thinking that he could never get out of the spring; but there he is at the door, and he wants to come in.'
While she was speaking the frog knocked again at the door, and said:

'Open the door, my princess dear,
Open the door to thy true love here!
And mind the words that thou and I said
By the fountain cool, in the greenwood shade.'

Then the king said to the young princess, 'As you have given your word you must keep it; so go and let him in.'
She did so, and the frog hopped into the room, and then straight on - tap, tap - plash, plash - from the bottom of the room to the top, till he came up close to the table where the princess sat.
'Pray lift me upon chair,' said he to the princess, 'and let me sit next to you.'
As soon as she had done this, the frog said, 'Put your plate nearer to me, that I may eat out of it.'
This she did, and when he had eaten as much as he could, he said, 'Now I am tired; carry me upstairs, and put me into your bed.' And the princess, though very unwilling, took him up in her hand, and put him upon the pillow of her own bed, where he slept all night long

As soon as it was light the frog jumped up, hopped downstairs, and went out of the house.
'Now, then,' thought the princess, 'at last he is gone, and I shall be troubled with him no more.'
But she was mistaken; for when night came again she heard the same tapping at the door; and the frog came once more, and said:

'Open the door, my princess dear,
Open the door to thy true love here!
And mind the words that thou and I said
By the fountain cool, in the greenwood shade.'

And when the princess opened the door the frog came in, and slept upon her pillow as before, till the morning broke. And the third night he did the same. But when the princess awoke on the following morning she was astonished to see, instead of the frog, a handsome prince, gazing on her with the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen and standing at the head of her bed.
He told her that he had been enchanted by a spiteful fairy, who had changed him into a frog; and that he had been fated so to abide till some princess should take him out of the spring, and let him eat from her plate, and sleep upon her bed for three nights.
'You,' said the prince, 'have broken his cruel charm, and now I have nothing to wish for but that you should go with me into my father's kingdom, where I will marry you, and love you as long as you live.'
The young princess, you may be sure, was not long in saying 'Yes' to all this; and as they spoke a brightly coloured coach drove up, with eight beautiful horses, decked with plumes of feathers and a golden harness; and behind the coach rode the prince's servant, faithful Heinrich, who had bewailed the misfortunes of his dear master during his enchantment so long and so bitterly, that his heart had well-nigh burst.
They then took leave of the king, and got into the coach with eight horses, and all set out, full of joy and merriment, for the prince's kingdom, which they reached safely; and there they lived happily a great many years.

The letter order from the king

Long time ago, there were two minister in the royal palace, minister Sarotama and minister Tegapati. They had the same duty. However, the character of them were very contradiction. Tegapati was disliked by many people because his rudeness. It seem that the King was more like Sarotama because he had good ability. Tegapati become very jealous, He tried hard to make Sarotama name badly so the King would hate Sarotama.

One day, Tegapati ordered his dependable men to take a jewellery of The King, He hid that jewellery at Sarotama house, no one in that house knew what he has done. He planned to make Sarotama accused as a thief. And so Sarotama was being accused when a box full with jewellery found in his house by the guard who searched in every house.

Sarotama could not approve himself not guilty because all evident were pointed to him. So The King became very angry and believed that Sarotama was guilty. He ordered Sarotama to deliver a secret letter order to the executioner . The letter ordered the executioner to cut off every body head who delivered the letter. The punishment place were 4 km from the royal palace, so Sarotama might come to his house and take his best horse.

When he arrived at his house, all neighbours have prepared the last ceremony for say good bye to Sarotama. Tegapati were there too. He reminded Sarotama how was important the King letter. "So, do you think the letter order from the King is more important than a bowl of rice?" said Tegapati from the back of his horse. Tegapati did not know what was the letter told about, He though the letter should be the important letter that delivered as the last honourable duty of Sarotama before he deserved the punishment.

"I am very sorry, my neighbours is like my family. I will send this letter immediately after I finished my last ceremony. "Asked Sarotama politely. "Where is the letter? I can deliver it for you". Said Tegapati. Tegapati planned to deliver the letter and told the King that Sarotama has disobeyed the King order. "So the King will give the punishment more hard to Sarotama", though Tegapati.

Sarotama did not agree, the letter would be delivered by himself. Suddenly, Tegapati snatched the letter and ran his horse fast.

When Tegapati came to the address written in the letter. He was very surprised when he knew what is in the letter told about The letter told executioner to cut every body head off who delivered the letter". "You must be misunderstand, it was not me". Tegapati tried to explain that Sarotama who was deserved. "Don’t try to deny!" said the executioner. He told his man to tie Tegapati and when the sun is up. Tegapati was lost his head from his neck.

The Legend of Nyi Roro Kidul

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Kadita. Because of her beauty she was called Dewi Srengenge which mean The beautiful sun. Her father was King Munding Wangi. Although he had a beautiful daughter he always unhappy because he always expected to have a son. The King decided to merry Dewi Mutiara, and he had a son from her. He was very happy. Dewi Mutiara wanted her son to become a king in the future so she must make sure for it. Dewi mutiara came to the king and asked him to send away his daughter. Of course, the king did not agree. "It is ridiculous, I will not allow any body doing such cruel thing to my daughter", said King Munding Wangi. When she heard the answer, Dewi mutiara smiled and said a sweet thing until the king has not anger anymore. However, she kept her bad intention deep in her heart.

In the morning before the sun raised, Dewi Mutiara sent her maid to call a black magician. She wanted the black magician to curse Kadita, her step daughter. " I want her beautiful body full with scabies and itch. If you succeeded I will reward you with the present you never thought before". The black magician did the queen order, in the night Kadita body has been full with scabies and itch. When She waked up , she found her body was smell stinky and have a ulcer all over her body. The beautiful princess cried and did not know what to do.

When The King heard he was very sad, he invited many physician to cure her daughter illness. Day by the day nobody could cure her daughter. He realized that her daughter illness it was not a ordinary illness someone must send a curse or magic spell. His problem became more difficult when the Queen Dewi Mutiara forced him to send away her daughter. "Your daughter will bring a bad luck to whole country, said Dewi Mutiara. The king did not want her daughter become a bad rumour in whole country. Finally he must agree to send her only daughter to leave the country.

The poor princess went alone, she didn't know to where she should go. She almost could not cry anymore. She had a nobble heart. She did not have any bad feeling with her step mother, instead she always asked the God to accompany her passed her suffer.

Almost seven day and seven night she has walked until she came to south ocean. She looked at the ocean. It was so clean and clear, unlike other ocean which have a blue or green colour. She jumped onto the water and swim. Suddenly when the south ocean water touched her skin there was a miracle happened. Her ulcer has gone and there was no sign that she has ever had a scabies or itch. Even more she became more beautiful than before. Not only that she has a power to command whole of the south ocean. Now she became a fairy called Nyi Roro Kidul or The Queen of South Ocean who lived forever.

This is the most spectacular legend until now in the modern life even when you read this story, many people from Indonesia or from other country has admitted that they have met the beautiful fairy queen wear a traditional dress of Java. One of the famous beach hotel has made a suit room specially for her.

Wake up late

This day Gobi’s behaviour is very strange. He shouts noisily like a mistune trumpet. His feet kick the ground and make unhappy noise. He grasps the sand and throws it to the air. Koli , his elephant neighbour feel worry, He wonders what has going on with Gobi. Everyone knew Gobi as a friendly and cheerful elephant.

"Auw’, shouted Koli when a cup of sand came over his face. Fortunately, the sand didn’t come into his eyes. "Please stop Gobi! Why are you so angry in this early morning?"

"Morning? It has been so late to say morning" Gobi grumbled. "You are acting like Mr. Laju, He has not come yet to bath my body." "Come down, He will come soon", Koli persuaded him. "Look there is many wrinkled on my skin because the hard sunning, Usually I have take a bath in this time!".

"Come down, please don’t angry anymore Mr. Laju will come soon, trust me" said Koli. Not long, There is Mr. Laju comes in hurry. "Oho, ho, ho, I am very sorry Gobi. I woke up late in this morning, I showed wayang golek last night so I slept late. (wayang golek = a kind of traditional puppet, very familiar in West Java Province).

Gobi starred at him, he looks understand that Mr. Laju was trying to persuade him. Mr. Laju understood why Gobi acted strangely. He knew Gobi behaviour because he has take care him since Gobi arrived to that zoo. " Let’s take a bath" said Mr. Laju. Gobi followed him, however, when they came to the pool. Gobi catches around Mr. Laju hip with his trunk and brought him highly. He immersed Mr. Laju to the pool and brought him highly again. "Gleg, gleg" in this time Mr. Laju has to swallow the water pool. "Let me down Gobi" shouted Mr. Laju.

After lose his anger. Gobi free his trunk from Mr. Laju hip. "You are very naughty in this day, Gobi! And look my breathing almost broken, you must not do it again such naughty manned. " said Mr. Laju. He breathed deeply to relief his painful.

Gobi shouted again, but his shout sounds very nice as he want to say" Don’t ever try to get late again Mr. Laju".

The end of the Lutung

Lutung is a kind of black monkey in the West Java, Indonesia. One day, Lutung walked limping and shuffling on the sand. He has got an accident falling down from a tree. His body was exhaustedly weak. He was very starving unfortunately the nearest forest was very far from him. He pushed himself to finally come into a mouth of river. He drank a water greedily.
Suddenly, he heard a voice of jungle cock, "Why do you look so pale, monkey?" asked the jungle cock, who was picking shrimp up from the river. "Please, fly me to the forest across this river ," asked Lutung. The jungle cock agreed to flew him to the nearest forest. Lutung held on the jungle cock paw. When they arrived at the forest, the Lutung did not want to held off his hand from jungle cock paw. Even though, he pulled out all of jungle cock feather. The jungle cock became unconsciousness.

"He shall be died", though Lutung. So, Lutung hid the jungle cock body in the wood and left him to find a fire in the forest.

The jungle cock woke up and found himself loose all his feather. He cried when the cow came by. "What is the matter with you? Who is very cruel animal pulling up all your feather?" asked cow curiously. The Jungle cock told the whole story. The cow became very angry when he heard what has Lutung done. "He must pay for it", said the cow. He ordered the jungle cock to hide in the shrub.

When Lutung got back with a fire he could find the jungle cock. "Do you see where is the dead body of jungle cock I left here?" asked Lutung. "The jungle cock has not been died, he swam to the sea", said cow.

The Lutung asked cow to bring him to the rock in the centre of the sea. Lutung though that the jungle cock might be hiding in that rock. the cow nicely agreed to send Lutung to the rock. The cow swam and brought the Lutung to the rock where he asked for. Without any suspicious the lutung jump up to the rock happily. The cow left him alone when he was far enough from the cow he said "I hope you will be died eat by the giant octopus". Lutung realised what happened done to himself, he sat on the top of rock and cried.

When the time passed by, Lutung heard a voice from the sea "Why are you cry" asked the turtle. " And I wonder why you may get here". " I come here by a boat, but my boat twisted up and finally I come to this miserable place" answered Lutung. The turtle felt sorry for him and agreed to bring the Lutung back to the beach.

When the they arrived on the beach Lutung said "How can you go swim so fast?". "It because my special feet", answered turtle. "May I see your special feet?" asked Lutung. Lutung turned turtle over his body. However, when the turtle has turned over, the Lutung immediately left him and went on to find a lion the King of the Jungle. He tough that only a lion who could pick out the delicious turtle meat from his hard shell.

Turtle cried and shouted for help. "What is happened with you?" asked a mouse. Turtle told the whole sad happened to himself. The mouse become very angry. He and other mice dug sand below the turtle body. They hoped when the water up and high the turtle shall turn over easily.

Meanwhile, they were waiting for Lutung arrival. The mice covered the turtle body with the body of themselves. And they danced and made a poem sound "Let us be happy .. with the funny Lutung .. who has cheated the King of The Jungle... who though there was a delicious turtle but ..". Lutung who came with the lion become very surprised. He wonder where was the turtle. After heard the poem of mice the lion become very angry because he felt foolish to be cheated.

"Where is the turtle you told me?" asked the lion furiously. The lion caught the lutung with his sharp claw and brought him with his mouth to the jungle.
